Make it beautiful out there. We all use the public spaces in our cities and towns, but we usually leave the cleaning and maintenance of these areas to paid professionals. However, there are simple acts we can all take in order to make our urban jungles not look like pigsties. After you pick up that piece of litter someone else carelessly discarded, sweep the sidewalk in front of your house. Take down and recycle the outdated poster on the utility pole (and maybe pull out a rusty staple or two). Advocate for more public art. Do the little things to make your community shine.

My mother always told me to leave things better than the way you found them (such as public spaces)and in recent years I have heard the same adage in Eastern philosophy; "where ever you walk may your feet leave flower petals behind."
