Make a statement with a color. This is Mental Illness Awareness Week, and you can show your support by donning something purple tomorrow. Mental illness affects 1 in 5 families in America, but because of the stigma associated with it, mental illness is often ignored and undiagnosed. Thus, sporting a purple shirt tomorrow or lacing up some purple shoes will make a statement that mental illness is something that needs to be addressed. By showing people you care enough to change your wardrobe, you'll inspire people to seek treatment and help erase a needless stigma. And, take an extra step by attending a local gathering.
