Three one-syllable words can mean a lot. Today, cards and balloons will proclaim three simple and meaningful words (no, not "Cool people care.") Saying I love you to someone else is one of the great privileges of being human and one of the great honors of relating to another person. As much as today might have been crafted by marketers and manufacturers, it is still a perfect opportunity to tell someone else that you love them. We clearly don't need the blessing of chocolate companies, but telling another person that you love, appreciate and adore them will provide a closeness that no stuffed platypus can create.

I don't let a day go by without telling my husband and my children that I love them. I never let more than 2 or 3 days go by without calling my parents and telling them that I love them. I also make sure to go see my 92 year old Grandmother at least twice a week and tell her how much I love her and appreciate all that she has done for me.
