We know you like games, especially if they help you save the world. Cool People: Meet The Garbage Game. This handy online tool helps you see how much waste you generate by the choices you make. By selecting what you do with empty bottles and apple cores, you can see how much garbage you can divert from ending up in landfills. Then, you get to be the sanitation commissioner and make the big decisions! Even though the game only provides stats for New York, you can imagine what could happen if we all realized the impact of our waste.

I played the game and was curious to see what would happen if I trashed everything. I was shocked to find that if we recycled nothing we would generate almost 2 tons of garbage per year - that's the equivalent of 8 full sized male elephants!
