Bypass your reliance on digital entertainment. If you're busy looking for something to do in order to pass the time during long summer nights, shut off the TV and go outside. Our dependence upon media to entertain us can also fragment us from developing meaningful community. Find at least one night a week to have a real conversation. Skip all of the blog feeds for a day. Head out for a post-dinner stroll around the neighborhood. The weather will turn cold and the sun will set sooner before you know it, so spend at least five minutes today outdoors while enjoying the weather and scenery.

While you are out strolling around your neighborhood, why not pick up the trash you may find?
