Can't crush it? Stuff it before you throw it away.

You already know that crushing items for the recycling bin or trashcan will allow you to toss more in and use fewer bags or take fewer trips outside in order to empty them. But what about those things that won't exactly lie flat? Unrecycleable plastics and other items that don't do well when flattened can be filled with other trash before they fill your trashcan. By stuffing wrappers, lids or paper towels into these containers, you'll make sure everything fits compactly into your garbage can. So, if you can't compost or recycle it, cram it in where it fits.
