Wasting Energy is Half Baked

Wasting Energy is Half Baked

Schedule your baking all in the same day to save energy.

It's exactly one month until Thanksgiving Day, and less than two until Christmas. And for most of us, that means yummy baked goods galore. So, whether you're making cookies, cakes, turkeys, pies or yams, schedule your baking to occur all at once to reduce your energy consumption. For example, by baking your sweets one after the other, you'll reduce the time needed to preheat the oven. And, if you bake in the evening, the ambient heat will raise the temperature in your kitchen, giving your furnace a break. Bake all at once and you'll practically taste those energy savings.

Our house is a little drafty so when I bake I have trays up lined up and ready to go in one after another. It helps me to keep busy and burn off the few cookies I've already eaten, lol.
